A FLOOD warning has been issued for the River Eden.

River levels have risen both upstream and downstream along the Eden catchment due to heavy rainfall, impacting the middle of the catchment.

As a result of heavy rainfall flooding of roads and farmland is possible tonight and over the weekend.

A warning has been issued for the lower River Eden affecting low lying land and roads in the Crosby-on-Eden, Linstock, Carlisle and Rockcliffe areas as well as high river levels on the River Eden River Caldew, River Petteril, Durranhill Beck, Brunstock Beck, Gosling Sike, Little Caldew, Parham Beck, Rockcliffe Beck.

A second warning has been issued for middle River Eden affecting low lying land and roads in Langwathby, Skirwith, Melmerby, Lazonby, Kirkoswald, Armathwaite, Brocklewath, Wetheral and Warwick Bridge.

High river levels are possible on the River Eden, Skirwith Beck, Melmerby Beck, Harrow Beck, Raven Beck, Cairn Beck, Trout Beck.

Heavy showers are forecast to continue throughout the weekend and river levels are expected to rise and fall because of this.
