A woman needed hospital treatment after receiving injuries to her face and body following an assault in Carlisle.

It happened on Saturday, August 31 at 4.20am on Botchergate.

The 26-year-old woman was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary for treatment.

A police spokeswoman said: “The location of the incident was on Botchergate, Carlisle, outside the bars next to the Ibis hotel. The incident is reported to have involved two males and two females.”

Police attended the scene.

A 28-year-old man was reported to have been hit but received no injuries.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault but has been released under investigation.

The spokeswoman added: “We are appealing for information regarding the identity of a second female as part of our enquiries. She was described as in her 20s and wearing a lemon coloured dress.” Contact PC 2751 FOX on 101, quoting log 40 of the 31st August.
