Strange formations will be appearing on the beach at Allonby this weekend but all in the name of art.

The village is holding its second annual stone stacking event.

Organised by the Allonby Community Forum, the competition is free to enter and will see children and adults vying to create the tallest, quickest and most artistic stack of rocks.

Registration opens at 11am in the Village Hall.

There are two classes for children aged five to 10 and 11 to 16 as well as the other classes. Two prizes will be awarded in each section.

Those who do not want to stack stones can paint them in the village hall. There will be refreshments available and a raffle. Prize giving will be around 3pm.
