A yellow weather warning for rain has been issued by the Met Office for the north and east of the county.
Running from 11am until 11.59pm today, the warning is predicting heavy rain which may lead to some flooding and disruption.
The forecaster is predicting:
- Spray and flooding, which could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
- Bus and train services will probably be affected with journey times taking longer
- Flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible
A yellow severe weather warning for rain has also been issued for central and southern Scotland, with the warning coming as far as the Scottish Borders.
The likelihood of disruption for this warning is higher than the warning for Cumbria.
This will be in place until midnight tonight
