A man has died after he was hit by a van in Wigton.
The pedestrian, an 84-year-old local man, was struck by a white van, on New Street, at about 4pm today.
The driver of the White Sprinter van is helping police at this time.
A spokesman for Cumbria police said: "The pedestrian, an 84-year-old local man, died a short time later.
"The family has been informed and they are being supported by police officers at this time.
"The driver of the van is a 54-year-old man from North Cumbria.
"He was not injured and is assisting Police with the investigation."
Cumbria police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward and call the police on 101.
