The works of ancient storytellers inspired the art of two Cumbrian artists.

Vanessa Bamkin and Pamela Lupton are the latest guest artists to take up residency in the Carlisle Contemporary Arts Gallery in the Old Fire Station.

Vanessa is an artist who creates goblins, animals and plants out of natural fibres.

“My very being goes into every piece I make,” she said.

All the money made from the sale of her art goes towards looking after her dog which has only one leg.

Pamela makes sculptures that are rooted in classical tradition with inspiration from Greek and Roman mythology.

She is also inspired by the personification from the natural world.

Their work will be on display from July 31 until August 25.
