Firefighters were called to tackle a hedge fire last night.
The crew from Carlisle West Fire Station rushed to the hedgerow fire on Millbeck, at about 9.45pm.
A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: "On arrival, we were met with a large amount of hedgerow that was well alight.
"We got to work extinguishing the fire using hose reels and spent some time ensuring the fire was completely out.
"During hot weather grass and vegetation can be dry and easily ignited, it can spread incredibly fast.
"We would advise people to take care around grassland areas and if you come across a fire even if it looks small ring 999 straight away."
