The restoration of The Manor House Inn in Haltwhistle created 45 jobs in the town.

Aside from the revamp of the hotel, the £600,000 restoration project of the high street landmark has brought a new gastro-pub and function space to the town.

Terry Christie, owner of The Manor House Inn, said: “Since I was a child, my family has been coming to this area for holidays and I always remember the Manor House as a lovely place to visit for food and fun times.

“Now finally I can give others the kind of happy memories I had at the Manor House.”

Forty-five jobs were given to local builders, plumbers, electricians, and decorators, and a further 38 jobs have been created for chefs, kitchen staff, and hotel staff.

Alan Sharp, chairman of Haltwhistle Town Council, said: “This is fantastic news for the local community and Terry Christie should be hugely praised for his significant investment in Haltwhistle and for creating local employment.”

The hotel has 10 double en-suite rooms and a roof terrace for guests to make use of.

Tourists can also get a free shuttle-bus from the hotel to Hadrian’s Wall.
