CALLOUT: Firefighters were sent to the property in Stanwix in the early hours
CREWS have rushed to an early-morning kitchen fire at a Carlisle home.
An engine from Carlisle West was called to a first-floor flat on Knowefield Close, Stanwix at 12.45am on Thursday.
A spokesman from Cumbria Fire and Rescue said: "An elderly man was removed from the property by fire service personnel and conveyed to hospital by ambulance."
The crews were in attendance for about 40 minutes.
