A CARLISLE road is to close for five weeks - with drivers warned to plan ahead.
Peter Lane, which links Dalston Road with the A595, will shut to traffic later this month.
The works, which will be carried out by Northern Gas Networks, are planned to start on Monday, July 22, and scheduled to end on Friday, August 23.
A spokesman from Northern Gas said: "We are carrying out essential work to replace ageing metal gas mains in the road with more durable plastic pipes.
"This is to ensure that we continue to provide safe and reliable gas supplies to local residents and businesses for years to come."
During the closure, drivers are being warned to plan an alternative route, and allow extra time for their journeys.
A diversion route will be in place via Dunmail Drive, Morton.
