HUNDREDS of children united in perfect harmony to record a moving charity song.

Hunter Hall School on the outskirts of Penrith welcomed more than 220 children to take part in the Ankoma Dream Schools Choir to record a CD for the Ankoma Outreach project.

The project supports a small, rural village in Kwahu-East, Ghana called Ankoma and the focus is to develop the village in terms of healthcare, education and sanitation whilst also helping the people become more self-sufficient.

Craig and Asha Richardson, founders of the Ankoma Outreach charity, first discovered the village in 2012 and since then they’ve welcome many volunteers to run several projects.

Projects spread throughout the village, helping babies in bumps right through to the elderly.

The pair work directly with the village schools, the health clinic and the committee of village elders to ensure Ankoma’s needs are always at the forefront of the projects.

Hunter Hall preparatory and pre-school, an independent, non-selective co-educational school on the outskirts of Penrith have supported the Ankoma Outreach project in many different ways for a number of years, including sending netball and football kits, pairs of shoes and recently spare school uniform.

The school also hosted five of the Ankoma Dream children for a day in September last year.

The Ankoma Dream Schools Choir is the most recent event in which Hunter Hall has been involved in.

All children from the school, as well as, choirs from Long Marton, Ashby Newlaithes, Warcop, Morland and Bolton Primary Schools were involved.

Asha Richardson, founder of the project and Sophie, who composed the song visited each school earlier in the term to run a workshop teaching the song to all pupils.

All schools came together, with a sound team to professionally record the track in the Hunter Hall school hall on June 10.

Dressed in their charity t-shirts which had all been previously bought as a way of the children donating to the charity, they came together in the courtyard to sing and record the charity single whilst being filmed ready for the song to be broadcast.
