THE date has been set for this year’s Carlisle Puppet Pageant.

The community event will be held on Saturday, September 7 and will be produced by Prism Arts with support from Carlisle City Council.

This year’s theme is ‘Historical figures of Carlisle’ and will celebrate people from all walks of life: from weavers and coffee merchants, to astronomers and fishermen.

John Mallinson, leader of Carlisle City Council, said: “The Carlisle Puppet Pageant Parade is a great community event which this year will showcase a variety of people from throughout the ages.

“With only a few months to go until this year’s city centre event, organisers are providing the opportunity to help out with the preparations.”

Ali McCaw, from Prism Arts, said: “This year’s Pageant Puppet Parade will feature a kaleidoscope of people and achievements that have made the city what it is today.

“We would like to thank the council for their continued support and we hope our local communities get involved by lending their help too.

“There are lots of opportunities to be part of the celebrations - contact us to see how you can play your part.”
