A WOMAN who has been making bespoke gifts for more than two years has taken the plunge and opened a shop.

Viv Nutt opened the shop, NuttHatch on West Street, Wigton, at the end of last month, selling a range of unique gifts with designs that she says never been repeated.

“I’ve been selling bits and pieces on Facebook for about two or three years now and the opportunity of a little shop came up and I thought do I or don’t I?” explained Viv.

“I sit down in the afternoons and make bits and pieces, so thought I might as well sit here and make bits and pieces. That way people get the opportunity to see what I’m doing, instead of just through photographs.”

It was when Viv retired from Carlisle City Council medically with ME that she looked for something else to do.

She said: “Crafts and cards were a bit of therapy for myself and it’s grown from cards to decorations to paintings and just snowballed.

“It was a total change. I just started off small and then people kept coming back asking for more.

“Everything I do is different so anything you get will never be repeated again.”

The shop is open weekdays from 1pm to 4pm excluding Wednesdays, and items can always be custom made to what a customer wants.
