A former priest has raised hundreds for good causes by fighting her life-limiting illness to complete a gruelling trek.

Judith Morgan, 56, of Queens Avenue, Seaton, was diagnosed with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME)/Fibromyalgia 12 years ago and suffers from muscle and joint pain, flu-like symptoms and fatigue.

She shrugged that off to walk around Buttermere on Monday and raise nearly £900 for two causes she cares about; the Penny Jones Animal Hospice, near Brampton, and Adriana Hirtan, who rescues dogs from dreadful conditions in Romania.

The trek, which Judith completed with her rescue dog Albert, took nearly seven hours and left the former priest exhausted but proud of what she had achieved.

"It was hard going," she said.

"I was very thankful for Albert because he pretty well pulled me up at times but I did it."
