A COMMUNITY venture in Ennerdale continues to thrive one year after it was saved by the public.
The Gather – a cafe, shop and community centre – faced closure last year after it was revealed that Ennerdale Hub Ltd, which runs it, needed to repay £33,000.
A fundraising campaign was launched in April last year and various fundraising activities were held to reach the total.
A year later the community hub is going from strength to strength.
Manager Carol Higgins said it has been an “extremely busy” year, with a wide range of events and many Coast to Coast walkers, cyclists, fell walkers and tourists visiting.
Miss Higgins said: “We are all thrilled that The Gather has had so much support from the community and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has visited us.”
