Highways chiefs have set aside more than £50,000 to re-surface a road through Dalston village.
Trevor Allison, Liberal Democrat councillor for the ward, sought assurances this money would also be used to make improvements to the junction of Station Road.
Speaking at a recent committee meeting, he also asked if the improvements to the B5299 could be combined with separate works to the highways due to be carried out by Story Homes to support its 121-home luxury estate, The Grange.
Welcoming the cash boost from the county council’s capital budget, Mr Allison said: “Will it include changes to the junction at Station Road as part of the development of The Grange?
“That seems to have got lost. It seems sensible they combine the two seeing they are right next to each other.”
But Highways boss Gareth Scott said: “We have been waiting for the developer to deliver a solution at the junction, and that’s delayed the scheme we have been proposing to do for some time now.
“That [money] should cover the Station [Road] junction but that doesn’t necessarily mean we won’t also see some junction improvements from the developer as well.”
