Young people who are considering going into medicine will have the chance to take part in a hands-on careers event.

The annual Career in Medicine event aims to inspire secondary school students and help them find out more about job options.

Hosted by North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust, it takes place on Friday, June 28 and Saturday, June 29 at the Cumberland Infirmary’s education centre in Carlisle.

This year’s event will feature interactive sessions on cardiology, trauma, orthopaedics, obstetrics (childbirth and midwifery), endoscopy, laparoscopy, and ear nose and throat.

Dr Louise Buchanan, consultant cardiologist and course director, said: “I am thrilled we are able to offer the event for another year."

It is open to pupils in years 11 to 13 who are considering studying medicine, and those considering postgraduate studies. To book a place, call contact Lyn Coulthard 01228 814089.
