The Whitehaven Sailing and Boating Association handed over a generous donation to the St. Bees Lifeboat volunteers in their annual generous act, which supports the volunteer's work and helps the team immensely.

The sailing club presented the St Bees RNLI team with a cheque for £260.50 on Tuesday, April 30, made up of money collected from crews entering the club races, as well as donations received last November at the club's trophy presentation evening.

Dick Beddows, RNLI officer, expressed his thanks to members of the sailing and boating association.

He also gave them a guided tour of the St Bees lifeboat station and a demonstration of a lifeboat launch at their practice evening.

The St. Bees Lifeboat Volunteer team have been called a 'worthy local cause' for the donation, and Dick has expressed his thanks for the support from the Whitehaven Sailing Club, who was grateful to have received the donation that is annually given to either the Workington or St Bees RNLI lifeboat stations.

Lifeboat volunteers are responsible for heroically saving lives of those needing help at sea, and rely on the support of donations to pay for vital equipment, and upkeep of the lifeboats. The St. Bees Lifeboat Volunteers are therefore extremely grateful for the donation made by Whitehaven's Sailing Club, and their ongoing support of the RNLI's work.
