Two Whitehaven business owners joined forces to help spruce up the town.

Danielle Lee, 28, who owns Club 135, and Rory Wood, 23, founder of Midas Watches, organised a town clean-up which the community were invited to attend.

Around 60 people rolled up their sleeves to collect litter around the town centre and beaches.

Danielle said: "It was a huge success and it was absolutely incredible to see how many people care about our town.

"Everyone was in good spirits on the day and it felt like a really positive experience.

"The environment is something we should all care about, especially when it’s so close to home."

Copeland Council provided litter pickers, bin bags and gloves, and collected the bags of rubbish on the day.

Volunteers headed back to Club 135 after the litter pick where Danielle put on a buffet and provided free soft drinks.

Rory gave away one of his watches and Y-Tea of the Lake District provided tea at no cost.

Ennerdale Brewery also gave away a four person brewery tour that was hidden in a bottle to be found during the clean up.

Danielle thanked everyone who attended on the day and added that they hope to hold more clean ups in the future.
