BELLE Vue Primary School in Carlisle is a vibrant and happy school, proud to be at the heart of the community it serves.

Nestled away on Beaver Road - in the middle of the Belle Vue estate in Carlisle - the school has substantial grounds for children to learn, grow, and play.

The school has two classes in each year group, with 423 pupils on roll.

A dedicated and talented team of staff ensure the academic success and pastoral care for each and every child.

Headteacher Andy Cairns said: “We take great care in crafting our curriculum.

“We ensure that it is broad and rich, and filled with memorable experiences for our pupils.

“Children only have one chance at their primary school days and it is up to us to make sure that we get it right – that we prepare them well with the skills, knowledge and attitudes that they need for life.”

“We ensure each topic has a ‘hook’, including high quality visits and visitors to help bring learning to life.

“We aim for a memorable curriculum that children will talk about enthusiastically not just in the here and now, but in 30 years’ time.”

“Alongside residential visits to London, York, and Barcaple [near Castle Douglas] in Scotland, closer to home, for example, our robotics topic was recently supported by a visit to the Pirelli Factory, and we have excellent working relationship with Tullie House too.

“Helping children to be safe, happy and confident is a key theme that runs through our school.

“We are a registered ‘Kidsafe’ School, and the NSPCC will again this term be supporting pupils’ learning.

“Before Easter, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service took Year 6 pupils through their ‘Heartstart’ training, providing pupils with the skills to support basic CPR.”

“A wide ranging extra-curricular offer also supports pupils’ interests and learning around the traditional school day. Many pupils and staff give their time willingly to attend clubs before, during and after school, enhancing the opportunities that we can provide.”

“Our pupils readily give so much to our school community and local area.

“We also ensure they learn about their responsibilities to the global community that we are all a part of.”
