A woman was jailed after breaching a criminal behaviour order.

Gemma Rice, 27, was jailed for 160 days after she admitted a string of offences when she appeared at the magistrates' court in Workington on Friday.

Rice, of no fixed address, admitted breaching supervision requirements following a period of imprisonment earlier this year.

She also admitted entering shops in Workington she was banned from and stealing meat worth £54.05 from Asda at Mossbay, four jars of coffee worth £15.96 from B&M Express and a box of matches worth £0.55 from Savers Health Care.

Magistrates said the jail term was justified by the seriousness of the offences and the fact Rice was on post-sentence supervision.

She was also ordered to pay compensation to the shops she stole from.
