MOTHER'S Day is this Sunday, and this week, we have asked readers of the News & Star to recommend their favourite places to take their mum for a meal.
We had many responses advising on the best restaurants to go in the north and west of the county.
Here, in no particular order, are the responses.
1 THE SALLY, IRTHINGTON
The Sally in Irthington, on the outskirts of Carlisle, was recommended by several readers.
The hotel serves a range of breakfast, morning coffees, light lunches, afternoon teas and evening meals.
Diners can go along for something to eat seven days a week.
Chris Brown said: "The Sally in Irthington, they do the best roast dinners."
Sara Brown added: "The sally, Irthington.
"Great food, great atmosphere fantastic friendly staff."
2 BLUE BELL, DALSTON
The pub, based on The Square in Dalston, next to St Micheal's Church, was praised by reader Stewart Edgar.
The eatery has a traditional bar, along with a separate restaurant area, and is open to families and dogs.
3 THE OLD GINN HOUSE, WORKINGTON
The hotel, located on Moor Road in Great Clifton, in the west of the county, also has a bar and a restaurant.
Diners can expect a range of home-made food throughout the week.
It is based two miles away from Workington, and five miles away from Cockermouth.
Eileen Pratt said: "The Old Ginn House Great Clifton.
"They have a Mothering Sunday offer, serving traditional Sunday lunch and full menu between 12 - 9.30 pm.
"Great food and friendly staff."
The Old Ginn House is open seven days a week.
4 ROYAL OAK PUB, CARLISLE
The eatery, based on Moorhouse, was praised by reader Yve Harland.
She posted: "Royal Oak, best pub meal anywhere."
5 THE WHITE MARE, BECKERMET
The hotel, based on Morass Road in Beckermet, in the west of the county, was recommended to us by one reader.
Featuring a bar and a restaurant, they are offering a Mother's Day menu.
Samantha Jackson said: "I took my daughters and mother last year, just beautiful."
6 THE WILD DUCK, BRANTHWAITE
The pub, located in Branthwaite, Workington, serves up a range of dishes.
Zonya Dixon posted: "The Wild Duck Branthwaite, amazing food and service."
7 BLACK JUG CATERING, CARLISLE
If you're after something a little different this year, Haig Murray recommended this option.
He said: "Black jug catering on Tait St Carlisle are offering made to order Mother’s Day buffets, as well as for any other occasion, it’s also nice to see somewhere open on a Saturday.
"Well worth a visit you won’t be disappointed."
8 THE HOWARD'S ARMS HOTEL, BRAMPTON
Dawn Hesmondhalgh said: "The Howard’s Arms Hotel Brampton, just been refurbished.
"[It] looks fantastic, brilliant staff and management, food very good. Open fires and dog friendly."
