Cumbrian football hero Grant Holt has announced that his autobiography will be published this summer.

The Carlisle-born former Premier League star turned wrestler says it is the “perfect time” to tell the story of his eventful life and career.

Holt, 37, will recount his early days in the game, including spells at Workington Reds and Barrow, and his fairytale rise to the top-flight.

He now works with Norwich City’s academy and as an ambassador for the club where he hit the heights, as well as a director of football position at Langley School. His book is co-written with the Canaries’ head of publications Dan Brigham.

Holt, from Harraby, said: “This feels like the perfect time to tell my story. I achieved much more in my career than I ever thought I would, and I did it through hard work, commitment, luck and a bit of ability.

"It was a brilliant journey, and I’m really proud to have the opportunity to get my story out there.”

Holt’s book, ‘A Real Football Life’ published by Twocan, is due to be released on June 1 but can be pre-ordered through Norwich City’s official website.
