Gusts of up to 80mph are set to batter Cumbria, as Storm Freya descends on the UK.

The Met Office has stated "injuries and danger to life from flying debris are possible" - and has issued a yellow weather warning for the weekend.

The warning, which covers the whole of Cumbria, states that Storm Freya is set to bring "very strong winds", which may cause travel disruption and "possible dangerous conditions".

In addition, the Met Office has said "injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties."

Extending across west, east and and north-east England, the warning is in place from 3pm on Sunday to 6am on Monday.

Travel by road, rail, air or ferry may be affected, "with longer journey times and cancellations possible" according to the Met Office.

Storm Freya may also cause power cuts with a possibility of other services being affected, "such as mobile phone coverage".
