POLICE have submitted nearly 4,000 pieces of digital evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service in the last nine months.
It has come from body-worn equipment which was rolled out across Cumbria Constabulary last year.
All police officers were supplied with a body camera which records audio and video evidence.
The equipment, funded by the Office of the Cumbria Police & Crime Commissioner, enables officers to effectively capture initial evidence that could prove crucial to any subsequent investigation.
It has led to early guilty pleas, due to the strength of the evidence, and means officers spend less time in court.
