COMPETITORS will be flipping pancakes as they run when they take part in a traditional pancake race.
Lowther Castle is hosting the event on February 24.
Mirroring its roots - where a woman rushed to the Shriving Service (Shrove Tuesday) at her local church in Buckinghamshire in 1445 - those taking part, dressed in fancy dress, will flip pancakes as they aim to be the first to reach Lowther Church.
Meanwhile a pancake trail, lasting as long as Lent, will launch tomorrow. Visitors will learn pancake-themed facts as they pick up clues to break the code of a puzzle.
The pancake race costs £1 to and proceeds will go to the church.
