HOW THEY MET: On holiday with friends in Magaluf in August 2009.

PROPOSAL: Matthew left riddles for Emma to follow. The last clue said he was taking her out and when they got home the house was filled with candles and roses and he proposed.

STAG & HEN CELEBRATIONS: Marbella for the bride and Benidorm for the groom.

VENUE: North Lakes Hotel, Penrith.

THEME: Ribbon, bows, neutral, soft pinks and Champagne colours.

BRIDE’S OUTFIT: A Lexi by Enzoani dress and veil from The Wedding Dress Company, Corbridge.

HAIR & BEAUTY: Hair by Charlotte Grey at Bonito, Wigton and make-up by Lucy and Sam at Nu Beauty, Carlisle.

GROOMSMEN: Adam Cross and Scott McDonald, friends of the groom, were best men and Paul Howe, bride’s brother, and groom’s friends Michael Stevens, Matthew Sherry and Richard Gatenby were ushers. The bride’s cousins Charlie Jamieson and Max Milburn were page boys.

BRIDESMAIDS: Bride’s friends Rachel McCade and Natalie Sara were maids of honour and bride’s cousins Georgina Sedgwick, Sam Hall and Kate Sedgwick and friends Kate Maclachlan and Natalie Jacques were bridesmaids. The bride’s cousins Sophie Jamieson, Poppy Milburn and Olivia Nixon and goddaughter Nancie Sara were flower girls.

FLOWERS: Roses, eucalyptus and other greenery. All by John Dalton.

RECEPTION: An afternoon reception for 90 guests at the North Lakes Hotel & Spa followed by an evening reception for 140 guests.

TABLE SETTINGS: Eucalyptus and white roses in jars with ribbons and candles.

FAVOURS: Home-made damson gin.

CAKE: A three-tier cake from the Cutie Pie Cake Company, Dalston.

FIRST DANCE: To Love Somebody, Michael Bolton.

ENTERTAINMENT: Johnny Morton from High Dynamics played the piano for the entrance to the ceremony and John Nixon played the guitar for the ceremony. The Fanatics band provided the music for the evening reception.

HONEYMOON: Thailand and Bali.
