A NORTH Cumbrian cricket club is gearing up for its new season.

Lanercost Cricket Club will be holding a series of indoor coaching and practice sessions at William Howard School in preparation for this year’s matches.

The cricket sessions will be separated for junior and senior cricketers.

Taking place on February 14 and 28, then on March 7, 14, 21 and 28, all junior cricket sessions will begin at 7.00pm and end at 8.00pm.

The senior cricket sessions, which will last from 8pm until 9pm, will first take place on March 14, then on March 21 and finally on March 28.

The club was recently honoured at the Cumbria Sports awards in November, winning the Community Club or Group of the Year award.

Held at the Low Wood Hotel in Windermere, the awards, organised by the county council’s Active Cumbria team, honour excellence and community engagement through sport in the county.

The judges praised Lanercost Cricket Club for their inclusivity and progressive engagement with the community in Lanercost, as well as the wider area.

The club is happy to welcome new players, regardless of age or skill level.
