Temperatures overnight dipped to as low as -7.4 degress in parts of Cumbria.
Bitterly cold weather is continuing to batter the UK, with a number of Met Office weather warnings for snow and ice in place between now and Monday.
Temperature lows in the last 12 hours:
- Shap -7.4 degrees (3am)
- Great Dun Fell -5.3 degrees (4am)
- Carlisle -5.1 degrees (5am)
- Warcop -4.8 degrees (4am)
- Spadeadam -4.8 degrees (1am)
- Keswick -4.5 degrees (3am)
Today is expected to be a sunny day for most of the county, with temperatures between zero and five degrees expected.
Temperatures overnight into Sunday are expected to be well into minus numbers again.
The Met Office's yellow warning covers the north-eastern most segment of Cumbria from Brampton up to the Scottish border.
It also extends east from Brampton to the Northumberland border.
Beginning at midnight on Monday, the warning will remain in place until 2.00pm.
The Met Office said that during this time, "some roads and railways [are] likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services".
In addition, they also warned of the risk of "some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces".
