The organiser of Cumbria’s biggest festival has said he is “thrilled” with this year’s line-up.

Festival director Andy Smith spoke this week of his delight at the five headline acts and the scores of supporting acts billed for Kendal Calling.

The four-day festival, beginning on July 25, will feature The Courteeners, Doves, Manic Street Preachers, Nile Rodgers & Chic and Orbital, as well as Tom Jones and a rich mixture of bands, artists and DJs including Years & Years, Miles Kane, The Fratellis and Leftfield.

“We’re thrilled to be heading into our 14th year with no less than five headliners,” said Andy after the line-up was announced on Tuesday.

“From anticipated headline slots, to Kendal Calling favourites, legendary sing-along dance anthems and spotlight spectacles, this year’s line-up is one of our most diverse yet,” he continued.

Andy added that the diversity of the acts, which range from House, Techno and Drum & Bass producers to indie rock bands and singer/songwriters is sure to keep the crowds entertained.

“We cannot wait to welcome our Kendal callers, new and old back to the fields,” Andy said.

He predicted that it will be “an unforgettable weekend amongst the rolling hills.

“The countdown is officially on – we’ll see you in the fields,” he added.

In addition to the musical acts, Kendal Calling will have an array of comedians, art installations, cabaret, magic, children’s entertainment, gourmet food and drinks on offer.

Tickets first became available at 10am yesterday, and are priced at £148 each.

Those interested in attending this summer should move quickly - the festival has sold out each of the 13 years it has run.
