More than 60 exhibitors have now been confirmed for the first-ever Lake District Wedding Fair, along with exciting plans for a Catwalk Fashion Show.

With just over three weeks to go, it’s the final countdown to the event on the weekend of February 23 and 24, the first event of its kind for Cumbria.

While many other regions and cities like Manchester have well-established bridal events attracting thousands of people, Cumbria has never before brought businesses from a range of the county’s wedding suppliers and venues to meet prospective brides and grooms in one single location.

Latest additions include a showpiece catwalk Fashion Show featuring some of the county’s best bridal businesses, which will run four times across the weekend.

‘The Look’ Catwalk Show will include models showcasing bridalwear, as well as hair, make-up and beauty specialists from across the county. The décor and styling for the Bo Ho’ style sessions is being provided by event specialists Willow & Fig, with music by Dancefloor Couture.

A huge teepee will be located inside the main Exhibition Hall – known as the Boho’ area – with a stage, seating area and live entertainment.

A diverse range of performers are being lined up to entertain the crowds throughout both days, including a local caricaturist and even a mind reader and magician.

The full list of exhibitors is still growing and already includes more 60 businesses, ranging from cakes, flowers and bridalwear to photography and entertainment.

A special indoor area will also give visitors the chance to see a range of vintage cars, camper vans and modern vehicles available to hire for their big day.

Co-director of the Lake District Wedding Fair, Joe Nichols, said: “With only a few weeks to go, we’re getting increasingly excited about bringing the first large-scale Wedding Fair of its kind to Cumbria and there is a real buzz among the businesses we’ve spoken to about creating something really special for anyone planning to get married over the next couple of years.

“A professional catwalk show is a fantastic addition to this new event, which is all about creating a fun, entertaining atmosphere which inspires people about the diverse range of possibilities our county can offer to prospective brides and grooms.”

Cumbria Tourism’s head of marketing and sales, Rachel Tyson, said: “We’re excited about the prospect of this new event showcasing this magical place as the ultimate wedding destination.

“When it comes to weddings, Cumbria has it all; whether that’s a vow renewal with a sea view, a civil ceremony overlooking a lake or a dramatic reception set against stunning mountain scenery.

“And of course, it’s not just about one day either. Hen and stag dos, mini-moons and honeymoons all provide new opportunities for businesses. Many couples who marry here will also continue to return to the same venue year after year, to reminisce on their special day – so our wedding venues genuinely can inspire guests for life.”

The Lake District Wedding Fair will take place at the J36 Rural Auction Centre (Exhibition Hall).Admission is free although all visitors must pre-register online to attend. Admission to ‘The Look’ Fashion Show is £5.
