A warning has been issued to vehicle owners across Carlisle following a spate of thefts overnight.
Three vehicles were broken into within a few hours of each other in the city.
In one case, tools worth more than £1,000 were stolen from a van in Harraby.
Cumbria Police say it is believed between two and four men were involved.
The van was targeted in the early hours of this morning while parked in Ashford Way, Harraby.
Police said the suspects are all male, of stocky build and wearing dark clothing.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said they are urging witnesses to come forward.
He added: "This is one of three thefts from motor vehicles reported to police on the same night, within a few hours of each other.
"Police advise that people do not leave valuable in motor vehicles overnight."
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
