A CARLISLE man remains in a critical condition in hospital following a crash a week ago.
The 28-year-old was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle after he was cut free from his car on the A69.
His blue BMW 320 car was the only vehicle involved in the incident on the busy route last Friday. It left the road, between Gilsland and Low Row, and collided with trees on the verge at about 3.50pm.
Police confirmed yesterday that he remained in a critical condition and also renewed their appeal for information.
Inspector Steve Minnikin said: “Enquiries are ongoing and we would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage of the vehicle around the time of the incident on the A69 to contact us on 101 quoting log number 153 of 11th January 2019.”
Emergency services were quickly on scene and motorists were asked to avoid the area for more than five hours while the area was cleared and specialist collision investigators began their probe into what caused the crash.
