RAIL enthusiasts will have a final chance to make a journey on a Class 37 train on the Cumbrian Coast.

To commemorate the service of the 1960s diesel-electric locomotives Northern has organised a farewell return journey between Carlisle and Carnforth to take place on Friday, departing at 9.4am and returning the same day at 4.15pm.

The Class 37s were removed from service on the coast and were replaced with diesel multiple unit on December 28.

Keepsake tickets have been produced for the event, which is expected to be in high demand. A maximum of 180 tickets – priced at £37 – are available for the event, with proceeds being donated to local charities.

Those interested must enter the ticker draw before noon on Monday and those who have been successful will be contacted the following day.
