A CARLISLE man sent a threatening text message after he caught his wife sleeping with another man.

Jason Edmondson, 32, of Durranhill Road, admitted the offence when he appeared at the magistrates’ court in Carlisle yesterday.

The court heard he had been drinking when sent Leanne Nolan a text concerning threats towards David Nixon saying he would “stab him” and “slit his throat.”

Edmondson was in a relationship with his wife for 14 years. She started a new relationship at the same time she ended their marriage.

Defence lawyer Paul Tweddle said the defendant regretted sending the text and that it was a case of acting in anger in emotional circumstances. “He found his wife and the gentleman having sex. He had no idea that was going to happen and his world suddenly fell apart,” he said.

He must complete 50 hours unpaid work, pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.
