PLANS have been revealed to replace one of Maryport’s two fire engines with a smaller vehicle.
A draft plan by the county council includes a number of proposals which include substituting the town’s second engine with a Rapid Response Vehicle (RRV), which is said to be more suitable to the risk, demand and geography of the county.
The RRV will provide greater availability in an area and allow a quicker response by the crew to emergencies, says the document.
Cumbria’s chief fire officer, Steve Healey, said: “The service is constantly reviewing the level of risk in the county and how we can make most effective use of the resources we have.” A public consultation into the Integrated Risk Management Plan runs until February 8 with a decision due to be made in April.
