BRYONY Morgan Simmons faced a dilemma - what to wear?

Last month, the girl guiding leader from Carlisle wore the same item of clothing every single day - a black dress.

Bryony, 28, said: “The dress is a black body con split neck dress from Dorothy Perkins. I chose it for the comfy fabric and potential to dress up and down. I’ve worn it every day except when I was at yoga or in bed.”

Bryony, a psychology teacher, wore the dress as part of a sponsored challenge she is going to embark on next year.

She said: “I’ve signed up to do the tall ships expedition with Girlguiding Northwest and the Jubilee Sailing Trust who organise sailing trips to empower those with disabilities to sail. Its a huge physical challenge as well as the fact I’ll be on a boat for 10 days working as voyage crew.

“As a girl guiding leader of the 43rd Carlisle Brownies at St Mark’s Church in Carlisle - and as a teacher - I see young people struggle to accept themselves day in and day out. The mental health of young people is deteriorating and nearly a third of girls between seven and 10 feel the most important thing about them is how they look.

“We analyse and worry about what others think about us, and this is particularly hard for our young people.

“Part of looking a certain way are the clothes we wear and the way we present ourselves to the world, I wondered whether there would be a discernible difference in the way I was perceived if I wore the same thing every day and whether people would actually notice as much as we think they do.”

Bryony says no one noticed that she wore the same dress all month as she has cleverly disguised it using a variety of accessories such as scarves and a belt.

She needs to raise £1,500 for her challenge next year. If you would like to sponsor her visit her Facebook page at “Bryony’s One Dress, One Month for Girlguiding” or email bryony.anne@yahoo.co.uk
