A West Cumbrian mum who has an incurable cancer will have her special day thanks to the community's support.

Susan Rumney, 26, of Northside, Workington, was diagnosed with an incurable cervical cancer last month.

A successful fundraising campaign was set up by her sister Lisa, 24, of Whitehaven, to pay for Susan and partner Jay Clark's wedding as well as Susan's funeral.

The community pulled together to pay for their special day and offers of help have flooded in. A date was set for Saturday, November 24, at St Kentigern's Church, Aspatria, for the couple to tie the knot. However, due to Susan's condition, the pair got married in hospital last week. But the loving couple will still have their special day on Saturday.

Lisa said: "We are going ahead with her big day, just it's a blessing of the rings instead of a wedding."

Susan is mother to Grayson, one, Lexie, three, and Mackenzie, eight, and her partner also has a son, Leo, 10.

Money raised will also ensure Susan's funeral is paid for when she loses her battle to cancer.
