Every day dozens of people are caught committing motoring offences in Cumbria.

Here we bring you a round-up of some of those appearing at Carlisle’s magistrates’ court on one day.

Philippa Jayne Atkinson was fined £120 after being caught driving on Ullswater Road, Penrith, without insurance.

The 26-year-old, of Mill Street, Penrith, was also ordered to pay £30 to fund victim services and £85 costs.

Atkinson was also given six penalty points.

Failing to wear a seatbelt landed Kevin Gary Banks in court - and with a £335 bill.

The 34-year-old, of Crossings Close, Cleator Moor, had the case proven under the single justice procedure.

The court heard he was seen in a white Renault Kangoo van on Westfield Drive, Workington, without a belt on.

Banks was fined £220 plus £30 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

Tracy Jane Cannon, 52, of Warnell Drive, Harraby, Carlisle, was caught speeding at 37mph through the 30mph zone in Warwick Bridge.

The case was proven under the single justice procedure and Cannon was fined £220, must pay £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge and given three penalty points.

Daniel James Cleghorn, 30, had a case of driving without insurance proven against him.

He was caught on the A66 Temple Sowerby bypass, driving without insurance.

Cleghorn, of Levens Close, Kirkby Stephen, was given eight penalty points and ordered to pay £660 fine, £66 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

There was no separate penalty imposed for driving other than in accordance with his licence.

Driving without insurance has given Paige Joyce Crellin six penalty points and a £660 fine.

Crellin, 19, of Beech Grove, Seaton, was caught on the A596 at Windscales.

She must also pay £66 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

Christopher Davidson, 32, of The Willows, in Egremont, ended up with a £932 court bill driving without a valid licence or insurance.

He was fined £770 plus £85 costs and £77 victim surcharge, and given six penalty points.
