TWO more Cumbrian town’s will be glowing this weekend as organisers busily prepare for their annual Christmas lights switch-on events.

Brampton and Wigton will simultaneously host their festive celebrations on Sunday, and will be brimming with festive cheer throughout the afternoon.

Entertainment gets underway in Brampton’s Market Place from 3pm, before a procession, including camels, donkeys, santas sleigh and Brampton Primary School nativity group, makes its way from showfield car park to the Moot Hall for the magic moment when the switch will be flicked at 5pm.

Allison Riddell, clerk of Brampton parish council, which organises the event, said: "It 's always well-attended and gets people into the festive spirit.

"It's just a magical event for local families and we hope everyone has a brilliant time."

A large stage is being set-up in Wigton town centre for the star-studded light switch-on concert, which is being headlined this year by X-Factor contestants Sh-Boom.

The Carlisle-based duo, made up of Mark Graham and Ian Binstead, got to the Six Chair Challenge stage of the hit TV show this year.

They will be joined by another former X-Factor singer in Jenny Ball who wowed audiences with her abilities last year.

The music side of the switch-on is once again being produced by the team from the Sands Centre in Carlisle.

Jonathan Higgins, the centre’s entertainment manager, said: “Sh-Boom will be showing off their talent and people will be open-jawed at Jenny Ball’s performance. She is a real powerhouse diva and will be doing some stuff from the Greatest Showman.

A Christmas market, street entertainment and Santa’s grotto will also be on offer ahead of the live stage show which will feature performances from Shades of Jazz, Lisa Gaga and Totally Take That.

A Christmas parade will take place through the town, meeting at the Water Street car park at 11.45am. Taylor’s fun fair will also be in the car park.
