All three lanes of the M6 southbound are now open following a crash.
Motorists heading south from Cumbrian were warned to expect long delays, with two lanes closed.
It happened between Lancaster and Preston, causing long queues.
A lorry and two cars were involved in the crash.
It affected the southbound carriageway from junction 33 (Galgate) to junction 32 (Broughton Interchange/M55).
It is not yet known if there were any injuries.
