A FLOOD alert has been issued for the Gretna to Silloth coastline.
The alert is in force for the high tide at 11.45pm tonight (Thursday, November 8), with tides at their highest two hours either side of this time.
According to the Government's Flood Information Service, the location likely to be affected is Port Carlisle.
Tidal spray and onshore flooding may occur to roads, and some properties along the coast may be affected.
People are advised to take care in coastal areas.
The Flood Alert states: "We currently forecast that the tides will remain high for the remainder of the week.
"We continue to monitor and will update if the situation does change."
