POLICE has confirmed that the death of two dogs in a kennel fire was accidental.
Dumfries Police were keen to address rumours that the fire was a deliberate act, following a fire on Sunday.
Officers were called to the fire in Goldie Avenue in the early hours of Sunday (Nov 4).
A spokesman for the force said: "We want to make clear, although two dogs, a labrador and a Staffordshire terrier were killed in a kennel fire, a full investigation by fire investigators and a scientist found the fire to be accidental and not deliberate.
"We are satisfied with the explanation provided by the fire investigators and are no longer investigating this incident."
