Parts of Cumbria's coastline were placed on alert for flooding.
The Environment Agency has issued the alerts for the coast between Gretna and Silloth and between St Bees Head and Millom.
They come into effect overnight and remain in place this morning.
"People are advised to take care in coastal areas," an EA spokesperson said.
Waves may cause spray and onshore flooding may occur to roads and properties along the coast.
Locations likely to be affected are Braystones Beach and the gates at Ravenglass.
Port Carlisle was likely to be the worst affected place in the north and the EA were closing the gates at Skinburness.
Residents in both locations are warned that further alerts - and potentially warnings, the second highest alert level - could be issued later today.
