Trains between Workington and Carlisle are due to be replaced by buses today.
Northern Rail has reported a fault and an earlier service from Barrow to Carlisle was terminated at Workington.
The train, which was due in Carlisle at 8.33am, will no longer call at Flimby, Maryport, Aspatria, Wigton, Dalston and Carlisle.
A spokesman said: "We are sorry for the cancellation of the service today. Road replacement transport has been requested to operate between Carlisle & Workington."
