A WEATHER warning remained in place as Cumbria continued to be battered by a storm today.
The Met Office yesterday issued a yellow wind alert, with a patch including the county remaining covered this morning.
Flood alerts were also in place for the rivers Brathay, Rothay and Winster and the upper river Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck and Derwentwater.
Wind gusting at 60mph was yesterday measured at Shap.
Motorists were urged to be cautious in the face of more extreme weather.
Police also advised drivers of vehicles affected by strong winds to avoid using the A66.
Officers this morning said the A685 and B6276 at New Road, Brough, was closed due to an overturned lorry and subsequent recovery work.
The north of the UK received another hammering with the arrival of Storm Henry.
The latest trouble comes just after the country saw off Storm Gertrude, which brought gusts of more than 100mph in places as well as heavy rain and snow.
