Detectives investigating the rape of a woman in Carlisle have made an arrest.
St James' Park was sealed off for 10 hours after a woman said she was assaulted in the early hours of the morning.
It happened between 3.50am and 4.30am this morning in St James’ Park, Denton Holme.
The victim was a 19-year-old woman.
At 4pm today police confirmed they had arrested a 23-year-old man from Peterborough on suspicion of rape.
Enquiries are ongoing. Members of the public were asked to avoid the area while investigations were carried out.
