A COURT has heard how a burglar was caught red-handed as he scoured sheds in search of something to steal.
A police officer watched as 32-year-old David Wallace scaled a wall to enter the grounds of a house at Mossbay Road in Workington.
Wallace, carrying a torch during the night time incident on October 1, found nothing of value in the decrepit outbuildings.
But as he left the scene through a gate he was confronted by the officer and arrested.
At Carlisle Crown Court today Wallace pleaded guilty to one charge of burglary with intent to steal.
Judge Tony Lancaster imposed a three-month night time curfew as a punishment. This will be electronically monitored.
Wallace, of Poole Road, Salterbeck, Workington, must also pay a court surcharge.
