FORMER pupils are invited to an anniversary celebration at St. Bridget's Catholic Primary School.

The school is marking 50 years in its present building with a 1960s style fete, complete with stalls, games, entertainment and refreshments on Friday, July 8.

Current headteacher, Suzanne Smith, would like to welcome past students to the fete.

She said: "I hope they will enjoy a trip down Memory Lane, rekindling happy memories while seeing just how much has changed.

"People often comment on the warm and welcoming atmosphere in school; I'd love to hear what it was like when they attended."

The new building was completed in 1966, replacing the sandstone building which stood on the same site.

The school itself dates back to 1872 when it occupied a building in the long gone Rafferty Street.

Everyone in the community is welcome to attend the fete, which will run from 3pm to 6pm.
