The opening date for a new Carlisle nightclub that will bring rooftop drinking to the city has been pushed back again.

Mint, which will be in the building that used to be home to the Mood nightclub, was due to open its doors on Friday (July 29) but will now open on August 12 instead.

Work to transform the club, which will have a rooftop terrace, is ongoing.

The club is now advertising for staff. Positions available include bar staff, promotions staff and glass collectors.

The Carlisle Mint will form part of a chain of clubs across the north, with other branches in Bradford and Wakefield.

Mood was once one of Carlisle’s most popular nightclubs. It closed in 2008 and has stood empty ever since.

Agents Walton Goodland, who leased the Mood building, said the new Cumbria County Council headquarters being built across the street is creating an interest for other businesses to come into the area.
